BMX Events

Have you ever seen those small bikes used for doing crazy tricks on a pump track? Those small bikes with a low seat and small wheels are called BMXs. They are fab for doing jumps and tricks and while they may seem intimidating at first, they are incredibly great fun! We run sessions that teach you all the basics, so you can join in on the fun:

Women, girls and non-binary only night at the Loading Bay

Have you ever thought about practicing your cycle skills in an indoor skatepark? Unless you’re pretty adventurous, chances are you haven’t. Skateparks aren’t always the most accessible places to visit as a woman. That’s at least our experience. They tend to be filled with cool teenage boys or what appears to be stuntmen flying about with not a care in the world. However, it doesn’t have to be this way…

We’re taking over The Loading Bay, an indoor skatepark, to cycle, roller skate, parkour, jump in trampolines or skateboard - try the activities you prefer! Coaches will be there to help you. The event is welcome to all levels and is beginner-friendly.

These nights have been so successful that we are now able to bring the event back once a month for the rest of the year! Tell your pals and join in on the fun!

The events are hosted in partnership with Movement Park, Rock Up & Ride and The Loading Bay.

Monday 6 April,

7-9pm - Women (16+) and non-binary

  • Unlike previous nights, this time it will be for women and non-binary people aged 16+ only. Join in on the activities you enjoy:

    • Learn to ride a BMX, MTB, skateboard, roller skates, trampoline or parkour - experienced coaches will help you in all disciplines. Try out the different disciplines you fancy throughout the evening.

    • BMX bikes, mountain bikes, quad roller blades, scooters and skateboards available to borrow or bring your own (if you do have your own, please bring it along, as we unfortunately don’t have an unlimited number of bikes/skates/scooters)

    • Food is available for purchase

    • Relax and socialise in the cafe area.

  • On the night The Loading Bay will be closed off to men and boys and only welcome women and non-binary people aged 16+.

  • The event is taking place at the indoor skatepark ‘The Loading Bay’. The Loading Bay’s address is: 100 Borron St, Glasgow G4 9XE.

Simply drop in on the night. Entry is £10 and includes equipment hire.

Yoga - Move

Last Monday of the month: Next session 30 March, 6.30-7.30pm

A joyful community embodied yoga flow organised and led by the lovely Gemma - an experienced yoga instructor and cycle trainer.

A bit about the practice:

Beginner friendly embodied movement to feel alive

Expect fun, intuitive, curious, playful and authentic movement. Weaving movement, meditation, visualisation and pranayama (breath practice).

Come as you are, to just be and to trust what wants to move through you.

What to bring:

Yourself, a mat (yoga or otherwise, or even a towel) and comfy clothes which are easy to move in. Layers are great to help keep warm in moments of stillness and cooler through movement.

Pay-as-you-can scale available. Please note, the session is not organised by Women On Wheels, but is hosted at our premises. 20% of proceeds from each booking is donated to Women on Wheels.

Trail to Bayanihan

“Trail to Bayanihan” follows Sam’s journey as she pedals through diverse landscapes, celebrating the joy of biking and the power of community.

Millport Cycle Ride

Fancy joining us for a ride around the lovely Isle of Cumbrae?

We'll take the train from Glasgow to Largs where we'll catch the ferry across with our bikes. On the ferry we'll be on the lookout for dolphins 🐬

After getting off the ferry, we’ve got a wonderful cycle around the island ahead of us. We’ll make plenty of stops along the way. If you're feeling brave and the weather is for it, you can go for a dip in the sea (so bring a swimsuit if this takes your fancy!) You can choose to cycle either the full loop of the island (10 miles) or around Fintry Bay (6 miles).

Overall one cracking day out on bikes! The ride is open to women and mums/grans/aunties are encourages to bring along their little ones. We’ve got bikes (all sizes), trailers and bike seats to borrow, so please get in touch if you would like to borrow one.

The trip is pay what you can £20-30 per person and includes bikes, train and ferry tickets as well as ride leaders.
