Teens Programme
Getting teenage girls and young women into cycling
Only 1.1% of secondary school students cycle to school in Glasgow. This is significantly lower compared to the number of kids cycling to primary school which is 5.1%*.
We want to support and enable more teenage girls and young women to feel confident cycling and enjoy all the benefits it brings!
Our Teens Programme is designed to get teenage girls and young women excited about cycling.
We do that by addressing the barriers and structuring sessions to meet their motivations. Each new block starts with a chat to figure out the groups specific needs. Their programme is then designed to suit their level, address their barriers and meet their motivations.
We find many teenage girls and young women enjoy cycling with friends and exploring new places. Therefore, as part of our Teens Programme we often cycle to new places and socialise along the way.
At the moment, the Teens Programme is only available to schools and youth groups. If you work with any schools or youth groups and you are interested in supporting girls and young women to cycle, please get in touch with Rachel on teens@womenonwheels.org.uk.
